Wholesale

The Coin Shed supplies approved trade buyers at wholesale rates through this website. Once your account is approved and you are signed in, wholesale pricing is applied automatically at checkout — there is no code to enter and no separate ordering system.

Who wholesale is for

Wholesale accounts are intended for businesses buying for resale — coin and bullion dealers, jewellers, auction houses and established resellers. If you are unsure whether your business qualifies, contact us and ask.

Approval is required

Wholesale is not self-service. Every account is reviewed and approved manually by us before wholesale pricing becomes active. Approval is at our discretion.

To apply, email support@thecoinshed.com.au with your business name, what you sell, and roughly what you expect to buy. We will confirm what we need from you.

Wholesale pricing is private

Wholesale prices are never shown publicly. They are visible only to an approved wholesale account that is signed in. Logged-out visitors, retail customers and search engines see standard retail pricing throughout the site.

If you are approved but still seeing retail prices, you are almost certainly signed out. Sign in and the prices will update.

How to order

You order exactly as any other customer does. Browse the shop, add items to your cart and check out. Your wholesale price is applied automatically to eligible products as you shop, and the price shown in your cart is the price you pay.

Not every product has a wholesale price

Wholesale pricing is enabled on a product-by-product basis. Many products do not carry a wholesale price, and that is normal — margins differ enormously across collectables, accessories and bullion.

Where no wholesale price is set, you simply pay the standard retail price. The product remains available to you either way; nothing is hidden or blocked because you hold a trade account.

Fixed and live bullion pricing

Two kinds of wholesale pricing operate on this site.

• Fixed wholesale pricing applies to collectables, accessories and other non-bullion products. The price is set per product and changes only when we change it.
• Live bullion wholesale pricing applies to investment bullion where it is configured. Your price is calculated from the current spot metal price plus a trade premium that is lower than the retail premium. Because it follows the market, it moves throughout the day.

For live-priced bullion, the price shown when you add an item to your cart is held for that order. It does not move underneath you between cart and checkout.

Minimum quantities

Some products may carry a minimum wholesale order quantity. Where a minimum applies it is shown on the product page, and an order below it cannot be completed at wholesale rates — you will be asked to increase the quantity rather than being quietly moved back to retail pricing.

At present the great majority of products have no minimum.

Pricing and availability change

Wholesale prices, premiums, minimums and product eligibility can change without notice, and bullion pricing moves with the metal markets continuously. Prices are confirmed at the moment you place your order, not before.

Stock and incoming stock

Stock levels shown on the site reflect what is genuinely free to sell. Where units are already committed to existing customer orders they are not offered again, so a product can show as reserved or sold out even though physical stock is on the premises.

Bullion in particular moves quickly and much of our range is held in small quantities. If you need volume, or need something that is currently unavailable, contact us before ordering — we can tell you what is on order and when we expect it.

Orders and payment

Wholesale orders are placed and paid for through the website using the standard checkout and payment methods. You will receive the usual order confirmation by email.

We may contact you before dispatch if an order needs confirmation — for example an unusually large bullion order, or a line where available stock has changed. Larger or unusual orders are best discussed with us first.

GST

Investment-grade bullion that meets the required fineness is GST-free. Collectables, accessories and non-investment metals are sold with GST included. This treatment is the same for wholesale and retail accounts, and is shown at checkout.

Account review and suspension

Wholesale accounts are reviewed from time to time. We may suspend or withdraw wholesale access where an account is inactive, where the terms of trade are not being met, or where the account no longer meets our criteria. Suspending wholesale access does not close your customer account or affect orders already placed.
