PCGS Grading

Bring us your coins and we’ll lodge them with PCGS on your behalf — paperwork, packing, dispatch and tracking, through to their return.

PCGS decides which tier a coin qualifies for. We’ll confirm the tier and your total before anything is sent.

How to submit

  1. Email support@thecoinshed.com.au with what you’d like graded, and photos if you have them.
  2. We confirm the tier and the total cost.
  3. You bring the coins in, or we agree how to send them.
  4. We record and photograph every coin, then dispatch to PCGS.
  5. We let you know as soon as grades are released.

Please don’t clean or polish a coin first. Cleaning is detectable and will affect the result.

Optional. If you are not sure, leave this as "Not sure" - we will work out the correct tier for your coins.
Year, denomination, mint and anything notable. A rough list is fine.

Before you submit

Do you decide the grade?

No. Every grade, designation and authentication decision is made by PCGS to their own standards. We can’t predict a grade, guarantee an outcome, or appeal one.

If a coin comes back lower than you hoped, or ungraded as a details or authenticity outcome, that’s PCGS’s determination. We’ll explain what it means, but we can’t change it.

How long does it take?

Turnaround is set by PCGS and varies with the tier and how busy they are. It stretches considerably around new releases and major shows.

We don’t quote a return date. If your submission is time-sensitive, tell us before you submit and we’ll say whether it’s realistic.

What do I need to provide?
  • The coins, handled as little as possible
  • Any original packaging, capsules or certificates
  • A declared value for each coin — this sets the tier and the insurance
  • Your contact details and how you’d like them returned
How are they shipped and insured?

Coins are recorded and photographed before dispatch, and sent tracked. Insurance is agreed case by case, because it depends on declared value — we’ll confirm the arrangements before anything leaves us.
