Vault Storage Agreement

This agreement is between you and The Coin Shed. It applies when you store items with us in the vault, and you accept it in My Vault when you confirm your first deposit. Version: 2026-09-founding-1.

1. Your items stay yours

You keep ownership of everything you store. We hold it for you in allocated storage: kept in its own bag, recorded against your account, and never pooled, lent, sold or used by us. Nothing goes into or comes out of storage without you confirming it in My Vault.

2. What can be stored

Physical items bought from The Coin Shed, and bullion coins, bars and rounds you send us under section 3, by customers with an account in their own name. We do not store accessories, packaging on its own, gift cards or anything that is not a physical item.

Under the Founding Vaulting Rate each customer may store up to 500 oz of silver and up to $50,000 by value. The 500 oz counts the actual silver content of everything stored, whether bullion, coins or collectables. The two limits apply separately. All storage is subject to available space in the vault, and we may decline a deposit if there is no room or it would go past these limits.

3. Sending us items you already own

  • You must ask first, in My Vault, and wait for our approval before sending anything. We can approve, decline or ask for more information at our discretion, and an approval to send expires if it is not used in time.
  • You must confirm that your chosen carrier and shipping service specifically covers precious metals in transit for their full declared value. Tracking, signature on delivery or ordinary extra cover alone may not provide this.
  • The items remain your responsibility until we have physically received and recorded your parcel. Receiving it does not mean we have accepted the items into storage.
  • We inspect everything we receive. We may decline any item, and we may require independent or specialist testing, which is charged separately.
  • Declined items, and the cost and risk of returning them to you, remain your responsibility.
  • Nothing enters storage until you have confirmed the final intake in My Vault: the items, quantities, identifying details, value and fees we propose to hold.
  • Accepting an item into storage does not guarantee that it is authentic, does not set a price at which we will buy it, and does not mean we have agreed to buy it.
  • The value recorded for an item you send us is the value agreed in the intake you confirmed. It is used for the $50,000 limit and for insurance, and changes only if we formally revalue it.

4. Fees

  • The Founding Vaulting Rate is $29 a month or $299 a year, including GST. You choose monthly or yearly when you confirm your first deposit.
  • Your first 30 days are free, counted from the day your first deposit goes into the vault. The free trial is available once per customer.
  • Nothing is charged during the trial. When it ends we email you an invoice, and then one each month or year. Invoices are payable when issued.
  • You keep the Founding Vaulting Rate for as long as you store with us without a break. If you cancel and return later, the rate at that time applies and there is no second free trial.
  • Sending us items you already own has a transfer fee, shown before you submit your request and again, as the final amount, when you confirm the intake. It is invoiced only once the items are accepted into storage. Specialist testing and return postage are charged separately.
  • Withdrawals, handling and insured delivery are charged separately and quoted when you ask. Collection from our Tingalpa office has no delivery charge.

5. Unpaid invoices

An invoice unpaid 14 days after it is issued is overdue, and we will contact you. While an invoice is overdue we may decline new deposits and transfers into your storage.

If an invoice is still unpaid 60 days after we have given you written notice that it is overdue, we may end your storage and return your items to you. You can collect them from our Tingalpa office by appointment, or we will post them at your cost once the overdue fees and the delivery charge are paid. We will never sell your items to recover unpaid fees.

6. Insurance

Items in the vault are insured through Lloyd’s of London, up to $50,000 per customer, for as long as they are in the vault.

If an item is lost or damaged while in our storage, it is valued at the cost of replacing it with the same or an equivalent item at the date of the loss, up to the $50,000 per-customer limit. Tell us as soon as you become aware of a problem. We make the claim under our policy and pay the settlement to you, or replace the item, and we will keep you informed while the claim is handled.

Insurance for items you are sending us applies only once we have received and recorded them. Until then, they are covered only by whatever cover you have arranged with your carrier.

7. Getting your items back

Ask for some or all of it back in My Vault. We visit the vault on a schedule, so a withdrawal is not instant; we will confirm a date with you, then post it to you or have it ready to collect by appointment. You confirm every withdrawal in My Vault before anything leaves storage.

8. Cancelling

  • You can cancel at any time in My Vault. We will return everything you have stored.
  • If you cancel during your free trial, no storage fee is payable, however long it takes us to return your items. Insured delivery is still charged if you ask us to post them.
  • If you pay monthly, no further invoices are issued. The month already paid is not refunded.
  • If you pay yearly, we refund the unused whole months of your paid year. A month you have started counts as used.

9. Changes and ending the service

We may change this agreement or our fees by giving you at least 30 days’ written notice by email. A change to fees does not affect the Founding Vaulting Rate while you keep storing with us without a break. If you do not accept a change, you can cancel before it takes effect under section 8.

We may end the vaulting service by giving you at least 30 days’ written notice. If we do, we will return your items to you free of delivery charges and refund any unused prepaid months.

10. If an account holder dies

We will release stored items only to the person legally entitled to them. An executor or administrator should contact us with the account holder’s details, a certified copy of the death certificate, and a certified copy of the grant of probate or letters of administration. Where there is no grant, we may ask for other evidence of entitlement and an indemnity. Storage fees continue until the items are collected or released.
